Courtesy Pay Policy
Description of Service
Courtesy Pay is a service which allows Trona Valley Federal Credit Union, at its option, to pay any item presented for payment against your checking account, including: checks, ATM withdrawals, debit card transactions, and electronic or ACH items - even if it causes the account to become overdrawn.
Courtesy Pay may be extended to a member who meets the following criteria:
- The primary account holder is at least 19 years of age
- The checking account is a Student Checking, Senior Checking,Non-Profit Checking, Kasasa Cash, Kasasa Cash Back, or My Choice Checking
- The share must have been opened for 180 days
- No loans on account over 15 days delinquent
- No Bankruptcy or Charged-Off shares or loans
- Aggregate deposits to all shares over last 60 days must be $500.00 or greater
- Share cannot be negative greater than 14 days
The member will be notified of their limit of overdraft tolerance associated with the type of checking account and parameters set forth by the Credit Union at time of service.
Whether your overdrafts will be paid or not is at our sole discretion and we reserve the right not to pay. We reserve the right to require you to repay your overdrafts immediately or on demand.
Your account will be charged a Courtesy Pay fee of $30.00 (same fee as non-sufficient fund) per item presented and paid by the Credit Union. More than one Courtesy Pay fee may be charged against your account per day, not to exceed the cumulative Courtesy Pay limit assigned to your account based on parameters set forth by the Credit Union.
The amount of any overdraft, plus our Courtesy Pay fee, shall be due and payable within thirty (30) days of the account becoming overdrawn. If the account is not brought to a zero or positive balance within forty-five (45) days, the account will be closed, referred to Collections, and reported to ChexSystems.
Courtesy Pay is non-contractual. It requires no action on behalf of the member. It costs nothing unless the service/privilege is used by initiating a check, electronic funds transfer or other payment or withdrawal request for more than what is on deposit in the account. TVFCU, may at its sole discretion, pay item(s) up to the authorized limit and will charge the member the Courtesy Pay service fee for each item that overdraws the account. If the conditions of this service are not met or this privilege is abused, we may withhold or terminate the Courtesy Pay service privilege without notification. TVFCU will send or post a notice each time an overdraft occurs.
Although you are not charged for using Courtesy Pay unless you have an overdraft, you may opt-out of Courtesy Pay at any time. If you do not want us to pay your overdrafts, you must notify us by signing an "opt-out notice". If you receive a direct deposit from social security or other federal benefits, you must opt-out if you do not want us to apply those funds to repay an overdraft.
